Dear Roller Derby Fan and Potential Sponsor, Thank
you for your interest in being a Beach Brawl SK8R
Dolls, LLC sponsor for the 2009 season. Women’s
flat track roller derby is the fastest growing
sport in the nation. Teams are forming daily and
are comprised of women from all walks of life.
Stay-at-home moms to professional business women,
ages 18 to older than 40, have joined leagues that
not only showcase women in sports, but also stress
the value of community involvement through fund
raising for a number of charities. Roller derby
leagues have been featured on ESPN, and most
recently The Today Show and Psych on the USA
Network. Drew Barrymore is even producing an
upcoming film starring Ellen Paige called “Whip
it!” that will highlight the growing sport.
Roller derby has evolved into a true sport with
rules and regulations. It involves athleticism and
dedication. Beach Brawl SK8R Dolls, LLC is also
filing for a not-for-profit status this season. We
anticipate achieving federal recognition as a
“501(c)3” charity by this year’s end which will
make your contributions, donations, and
sponsorship tax deductible. Unlike other teams,
Beach Brawl SK8R Dolls will not pay our skaters.
Your money will benefit the team so that we can
hold bouts and help secure donations for local
women’s and local children’s charities, such as
Shelter House, Children In Crisis, Habitat For
Humanity, and the Rotary Club’s youth camp, among
others. Donations and contributions to the league
will help to further our mission:
The BBSD is the first-ever women’s flat track
roller derby league in the area. Comprised of
women from all walks of life, we are a charitable
organization with our main focus being the
empowerment of women and the protection of
children.
Several leagues have formed along the Emerald
Coast and surrounding areas. These cities include,
but are not limited to, Panama City, Pensacola,
Mobile, Tampa, Tallahassee, Birmingham and
Huntsville.
Panama
City Roller Derby has been very successful in
not only giving women a sport of their own, but
also fostering the community’s interest in skating
and has revitalized a local rink. Each league was
a grassroots effort and all are skater owned and
operated.
As most of our bouts will be “away” games this
season, we are more than willing to make
appearances at any events your company or
organization plans to hold. If there are charity
events we can help with on your behalf, all the
better! We have a Web site and a MySpace page
where we will proudly display our sponsors’ names
and information and will print that same
information in our home event programs and on a
collective sponsor banner.
If you have any questions, please feel free to
contact us via e-mail at
beachbrawlsk8rdolls@yahoo.com, and a member of
our Sponsorship Committee will be in touch with
you.
Hugs, Shoves and Derby Love,
